Landmark Sculpture for Station Square, Lowestoft, Suffolk
Winning competition entry, commissioned by Waveney District Council for the Waveney Sunrise Scheme
A study of Lowestoft, its seabirds, climate, history of immigration and links to Denmark resulted in this towering public artwork that stands at nine metres in height.
Five, life sized stainless steel Bewick Swans fly in from the sea, a tribute to Danish Author Hans Christian Andersen’s story The Wild Swans, Held aloft on a swirling, wind thermal inspired, stainless steel structure the whole sculpture is Illuminated from below at night.
